El arte y la era híbrida
Cuando decidimos iniciar este programa, junto a Puertas Adentro, pensamos en este concepto de hibridez, no solo como algo que está sucediendo en nuestra re-versión de los programas tradicionales de residencias, sino que además encaja perfecto en las expresiones de artistas actuales.
Sin darnos cuenta, de repente el programa tenía a 12 artistas de diferentes regiones, culturas y lenguajes. Esto nos habla, nos dice que estamos en el camino correcto y nos esforzamos por potenciar estas oportunidades que se presentan de intercambio artístico-cultural. Fue un gran desafío combinar horarios para que los artistas pudieran tener en común los encuentros semanales. Desde el Cono Sur de América, pasando por centro y norte américa y aterrizando a los Emiratos Árabes Unidos. Todo fue posible gracias a la entrega y compromiso de cada uno de ellos.
Los encuentros explotaban de reflexión, intercambio, ideas, sugerencias, referencias y extensos diálogos.
Empezaron las conexiones, los puntos en común, y el mayor punto en común es la relación entre la vida y la muerte como los proyectos de Marcelo Arce Fonollá (Chile) con el de Ana Rey (Argentina en Brasil). Quienes trabajaron el positivo-negativo, la forma (cóncavo-convexo), la vida y la muerte. Alex Cabrera (México) y Ana Lucía Galicia (Guatemala) reflexionan sobre lo trascendental de la existencia, también sobre la vida y la muerte. Salmah Almansoori (E.A.U.), Julia Tramutola (Argentina) y Josefina Madariaga (Argentina) trabajan sobre lo vivo y lo muerto en el agua y en el desierto. Howard Skrill (EE.UU.), Magaly Vega (México y EE.UU.) tratan reflexiones sobre lo ansestral del cosmos y de la historia. Ivonne Rodríguez Sanchez (México) sobre el re-vivir y nuevas oportunidades luego de estar muerto para la sociedad. Nélida Didolich (Argentina) y Lionel Cruet (Puerto Rico y EE.UU.) hablan del mantener vivo lo que se está muriendo.
La transformación y nuevos lenguajes expresivos surgen durante el proceso de residencia. Encuentro tras encuentro los artistas han compartido sus procesos y reflexiones que se trajeron naturalmente a debate e intercambio. Se podía ver el comprometido interés entre ellos para con los demás proyectos, al punto que algunos encontraron el redirección, el transformar su búsqueda; lo cual hoy permite un ensamble curatorial idóneo.
Hoy estamos parados frente a casi una exposición que a su vez engloba el espíritu de este proyecto. La fusión, la colaboración, el encuentro como camino, como hilo conductor del lenguaje del arte. La hibridez. Es por ello que abrimos el Circuito de Exposición de Artistas, donde proyectos de artistas que pasaron por otros programas se ensamblan al concepto de los proyectos del grupo actual. Es aquí donde los artistas del Programa RIO Francia, Cyra Moreira (Brasil) y Francisco Sosa (Argentino), exhibirán sus proyectos realizados como parte de la exposición de estos artistas, que por cierto tendrá lugar el 10 de diciembre en Puertas Adentro, Punta del Este, Uruguay. Dando un cierre (o un inicio, si se quiere) a lo híbrido.

Art and the hybrid age
When we decided to start this program, together with Puertas Adentro, we thought about this concept of hybridity, not only as something that is happening in our re-version of traditional residency programs, but also that it fits perfectly with the expressions of current artists.
Without realizing it, suddenly the program had 12 artists from different regions, cultures and languages. This speaks to us, tells us that we are on the right path and that we strive to enhance these opportunities for artistic-cultural exchange that arise. It was a great challenge to combine schedules so that the artists could have the weekly meetings in common. From the Southern Cone of America, going through Central and North America and landing in the United Arab Emirates. Everything was possible thanks to the dedication and commitment of each one of them.
The meetings exploded with reflection, exchange, ideas, suggestions, references and extensive dialogues.
The connections began, the points in common, and the greatest point in common is the relationship between life and death like the projects of Marcelo Arce Fonollá (Chile) with that of Ana Rey (Argentina in Brazil). They worked the positive-negative, the form (concave-convex), life and death. Alex Cabrera (Mexico) and Ana Lucía Galicia (Guatemala) reflected on the transcendental nature of existence, as well as on life and death. Salmah Almansoori (UAE), Julia Tramutola (Argentina) and Josefina Madariaga (Argentina) worked on the living and the dead in the water and in the desert. Howard Skrill (USA), Magaly Vega (Mexico and USA) discussed reflections on the background of thouse who died, on how history is told to us. Ivonne Rodríguez Sanchez (Mexico) about re-living and new opportunities for society after being dead. Nélida Didolich (Argentina) and Lionel Cruet (Puerto Rico and USA) talked about keeping alive what is dying.
Transformation and new expressive languages emerge during the residency process. Meeting after meeting, the artists have shared their processes and reflections, which naturally led to debate and exchange. It was evident the committed interest among them towards the other projects, to the point that some found the redirection, the
transform of their search; which today allows an ideal curatorial ensemble.
Today we are standing in front of almost an exhibition that in turn encompasses the spirit of this project. The fusion, the collaboration, the meeting as a way, as a guiding thread of the language of art. Hybridity.
That is why we opened the Artists Exhibition Circuit, where projects by artists who went through other programs are assembled with the concept of the current group's projects.
It is here where the artists from the RIO France Program, Cyra Moreira (Brazil) and Francisco Sosa (Argentina), will exhibit their projects carried out as part of this group´s exhibition, which, by the way, will take place on December 10th at Puertas Adentro, Punta del Este, Uruguay. Giving a closure (or a beginning, we can say) to the hybrid.
